Aerial Installations
Dura-Line UV-rated aerial products, such as Figure-8 Self-Support Aerial duct are directly mounted to the pole. The non-stranded version is overlashed to existing strand or cables. They are available as a conventional 1.25” duct or as a FuturePath MicroDuct bundled pathway.
AERIAL DUCT SERVICE PERFORMANCE
Dura-Line’s Figure-8 Self-Support Aerial duct utilizes a flooded extra high-strength (EHS) 0.25” galvanized strand for optimum tensile strength. The strand must be properly tightened to provide the proper sag profile to allow for expansion and contraction. Both the Figure-8 Self-Support Aerial conduit and non-stranded version may require the addition of wind dampers, spoilers, or weights in high-wind regions to control potential cable/duct cable dance (gallop or aeolian vibration) conditions.
FUTUREPATH BUNDLED MICRODUCT INSTALLATION
The FuturePath Figure-8 Self-Support Aerial in 2-way, 4-way, and 7-way MicroDuct bundle options utilize the standard serpentine mounting clamps used for traditional self-support duct products. A self-support single tube MicroDrop version is also available for FTTH installations. The non-stranded FuturePath MicroDuct bundle is lashed using standard cable lashing equipment and methods. When it is necessary to join the Microducts mid-span or at the end of a reel a suitable splice enclosure should be used.
